Language

Language began as KM Mushrooms, a five-year-old mushroom farm with a loyal following at local farmers markets. As the business prepared to evolve beyond fresh mushrooms into tinctures, skincare, seasonings, grow kits, and eventually everyday staples like coffee and tea, the brand needed a digital presence capable of evolving with it. Alongside a new name and visual identity, Language needed an ecommerce experience that could introduce a much bigger idea of what a mushroom company could be.

We designed the new site around that transition: from farm-first business to modern consumer brand. The goal was to create an experience that felt distinctive and editorial while still making product discovery and purchasing intuitive. A long-scroll homepage establishes the world of Language through a mix of storytelling, education, and commerce, giving visitors multiple ways into the brand without losing a clear path to shop.

The site architecture was designed to accommodate both the products available at launch and the broader ecosystem Language is building toward. The shop organizes tinctures, herbal blends, and mushroom skincare into clear categories, with a flexible structure ready for future collections. Elsewhere, the About experience gives the brand’s philosophy and language room to breathe while connecting it back to the physical farm and the people behind it. A dedicated Meet the Farmer experience extends that story further, doubling as a destination for educational and speaking opportunities.

Because the website needed to function as more than a brand showcase, we approached ecommerce and retention as fundamental parts of the experience. Built on Shopify, the site brings subscriptions, product reviews, and Klaviyo into a cohesive customer journey while prioritizing responsive behavior, accessibility, SEO, and an intuitive mobile experience. The underlying system was designed to make the site easy for the Language team to manage as its product catalog and content continue to grow.

The result is a digital home designed for the company Language is becoming rather than the one it has been. It carries the character and roots of a working mushroom farm into a more expansive consumer brand, creating a foundation that can support new products, new audiences, and a deeper relationship with customers over time.
